 What is Endoscopy? 


  Endoscopy is an important diagnostic procedure that doctors use to see and examine parts of  the inside of your body. Endoscope is a thin black rubber tube with a camera and light on its tip.  This instrument can reach various parts of the body and detect diseases inside the body.


 When is Endoscopy done? 


  Endoscopy is used to diagnose and diagnose various health problems and is used to diagnose  This is done in the following situations: 

  1.  Digestive system problems- 

  •  Stomach pain 
  •  Indigestion  
  •  Frequent acid reflux   
  •  Internal bleeding   
  •  Problem of constipation or diarrhea

 How is endoscopy done? 


 The process of endoscopy is usually done without any surgery – before doing endoscopy, the  patient is advised not to take food and water for a few hours and the doctor can also give you  medicines like anesthetic as per need, this will make you sleep for some time. are given so that  there is no difficulty in inserting the endoscope inside    The endoscope is mostly inserted through the mouth, it can also be inserted into the body  through the nose and other natural openings of the body. This instrument is light and flexible so  that the patient has minimal discomfort.   With the help of a camera installed in the endoscope, the doctor sees live pictures of the  internal parts of the body. If necessary, the doctor can take a biopsy. After the completion of the  procedure, the patient is advised to rest for some time.


Types of endoscopy 


Endoscopy is classified according to the organs which are as follows- 

  1. Gastronoscopy: To examine the upper layer of the stomach and intestine. 
  2. Colonoscopy: To examine the large intestine and rectum. 
  3. Bronchoscopy: To examine the lungs and respiratory system.  
  4. Sigmoidoscopy: to examine the lower intestine   
  5. Endoscopic ultrasound: to look deeper into the digestive tract and surrounding organs

  • Contact your doctor immediately if there is excessive pain, fever, or bleeding  after the procedure. 


What to do after endoscopy?


  Rest as advised by your doctor, eat light meals, and avoid heavy work or driving for a few hours  after the procedure.
